Cova d´en Xoroi

Cova d’en Xoroi is a natural cave located in Cala en Porter, on the south coast of Menorca. You can visit both day and night.

The cave is named after Xoroi, according to a legend, a stranger who had come to the island, kidnapped a girl and took her to the cave.
One winter’s day, the island dressed in unusual snow and footprints in the snow led the farmers to Xoroi´s cave. The armed men entered the cave, and found Xoroi and the girl had three children. At being cornered, Xoroi and his eldest son, jump off the cliff to the sea.
His wife and two children were taken to Alaior, where it is said that the descendants of the couple are still living.
At present the Cova d’en Xoroi is a place of leisure where you can have a snack in the morning; relax in the afternoon with chill out music and dancing at night.

It has a balcony with spectacular views, from which you can contemplate the sunrise, sunset and the spell of the moon.

Cova d´en Xoroi

La Cova d´en Xoroi es una cueva natural situada en Cala en Porter, en la costa Sur de Menorca. Se puede visitar tanto de día como de noche. La cueva lleva el nombre de Xoroi, ya que según la leyenda un desconocido que había llegado a la isla, llamado por los menorquines el moro Xoroi, secuestró a una joven y se la llevó a la cueva.

Un día de invierno, la isla se vistió de insólita nevada y unas huellas sobre la nieve guiaron a los payeses vecinos hasta la cueva de Xoroi. Los hombres armados, entraron en la cueva, descubriendo que Xoroi y la joven habían formado una familia y tenían tres hijos. Al verse acorralados, Xoroi y su hijo mayor, se lanzaron al mar por el acantilado. El mar que lo había traído, se cerró sobre ellos guardando el misterio de su vida.

Su mujer y sus otros dos hijos fueron trasladados a Alaior, donde se dice que aún viven descendientes de la pareja.

Acturalmente la Cova d´en Xoroi es un lugar de ocio donde tomar un aperitivo por la mañana, relajarte a media tarde con música “ambient” y bailar por la noche. Tiene un mirador con espectaculares vistas, desde donde contemplar el amanecer, la puesta del sol y el embrujo de la luna.

Malborough Fort

The Malborough Fort was built by Sir John Churchill.

It was built into the rock by the British in the early eighteenth century. It is located in the southern area of the Mahon harbor, at St Esteve Cove (Es Castell). The fort was built to protect the valuable port of Mahon. It was considered at that time, one of the most valuable of the Mediterranean sea, because of the strategic position for the characteristics of the port,as it is very wide, long and deep and this greatly facilitated the entry of ships.

This fortress has countermines, tunnels, rooms carved into the rock and a moat in order to protect the central area of the enclosure.
Today, the fort of Malborough, has gone from being a British military building, to be a museum created by Menorcans to evaluate the historical value of this fortitude.

The museum shows the lifestyle of Menorca in British times, eighteenth century, using technology and respecting the infrastructure.

Fuerte Malborough

El Fuerte de Marlborough fue construido por Sir John Churchill.

Fue construido en la roca por los ingleses a principios de siglo XVIII. Está situado en la zona sur del puerto de Mahon, concretamente en la cala de san Esteve (Es Castell). La finalidad de este fuerte, era proteger el valioso puerto de Mahón, ya que a varias potencias les resultaba atractivo. Estaba considerado en aquellos tiempos, unos de los más valiosos del Mediterraneo, a causa de la estratégica posición i por características del puerto, ya que es muy amplio, largo y profundo y esto facilitaba mucho la entrada de barcos. Esta fortaleza posee contraminas, galerías subterráneas, salas excavadas en la roca y un foso con la finalidad de proteger la zona central del recinto.

En la actualidad, el fuerte de marlborough, ha pasado de ser una edificación militar británica, a ser un museo creado por menorquines para evaluar el valor histórico de tal fortaleza.

El museo enseña la forma de vida de Menorca en la época británica, siglo XVIII utilizando la tecnología i respetando las infraestructuras.

Playa d´Es Bot

A place to visit during your holidays will be “Es Bot” beach.

It´s 12 kilometres from Ciutadella, located between Platja es Tancats and Punta Roja.

The beach of “Es Bot” possesses an extraordinary beauty, remaining unspoilt and with outstandingly crystal-clear water. This isolated sea inlet is rectangular, quite big, it has vegetation in the surroundings, the beach is sandy and it is exposed to the winds from the north-west-northwest, a gentle breeze, calm water and a gentle slope. The marine and underwater conditions for anchoring boats are excellent.

Ideal for going scuba-diving and observing the marine fauna in the area.

In order to reach this beach, you have to go on foot from Algaiarens Cove, crossing a small area of scrub. It takes less than 5 minutes.

This coastal area belongs to the impressive mountainous landscape of la Vall, including la Falconera.

This coastal stretch and the interior of Tramuntana of Menorca belongs to the Special Protection Area for Birds by the European Union and Area of Special Interest (3.125 hectares) by the Balearic Islands Parliament.

Playa d´Es Bots

Un lugar para visitar en sus vacaciones seria la preciosa playa de Es Bot.

Esta a unos 12 kilómetros de Ciutadella, situada entre Punta Roja y Platja es Tancats. Posee una belleza extraordinaria, conservándose virgen y destacando su agua totalmente cristalina.

Se caracteriza por tener forma rectangular, unas dimensiones moderadas, vegetación en sus inmediaciones, un talud de arena, la desembocadura de Torrent de la Vall, una brisa ligera, un mar tranquilo y una pendiente suave. Las condiciones marinas y subacuáticas son óptimas para el fondeo de embarcaciones frente a su orilla.

Ideal para la práctica del buceo y observar la fauna marina de la zona.

Para acceder a esta playa hay que llegar a pie desde la Cala Algaiarens, atravesando un pequeño monte. No se tarda más de 5 minutos.

Las playas de Es Bot y es Tancats conforman Cala Algaiarens. Esta costa forma parte del impresionante paisaje montañoso de la Vall, acogiendo la Falconera

Este tramo costero e interior de Tramuntana de Menorca está catalogado como Zona de Especial Protección para las Aves por la Unión Europea y Àrea Natural d’Especial Interès (3.125 hectáreas) por el Parlament de les Illes Balears.

Al visitar nuestros apartamentos en Menorca podrá conocer y disfrutar de la “cultura ecuestre menorquina”, ya que existen diferentes actos que se especificaran detalladamente en nuestros apartamentos en Menorca.

Cuatro caballos subiran por primera vez al escenario del Teatre Pricipal de Menorca este sábado con motivo del espectaculo ” De pura raza”.

Los artistas estaran acompañados por un conjunto musical de piano, saxo, caja, contrabajo y guitarra, y constará de doce numeros en los que los equinos bailaran las diferentes piezas musicales.

Arenal den Castell

Arenal D’en Castell is situated on the north coast of the island of Menorca, and only 20 -30 minutes drive from the Mahon town and airport.

Na Macaret, Son Parc and Port Addaia are other resorts close by and easily reached.

Arenal d´en Castell has a flat headland at the eastern end called Punta Grossa which links to the eastern, wooded end of the beach with it’s sand dunes. Towards the western end the land rises with a steep valley splitting the resort- here the resort is terraced with facilties on about three distinct levels.

It has a magnificent beach and water sport facilities. The beach is a large nearly circular crescent of fine golden sand, with the usual sun beds and parasols for hire.

At the entrance of the resort is Coves Noves which contains a commercial area, along with childrens play park, bouncy castles, mini electric karts, tables games, mini goolf… and tennis courts to hire as well as a diving centre.

There are various mixed bars and restaurants.

Some bars have evening entertainment but most of it happens in the larger hotels also open to non residents.

Along with other resorts on Menorca, Arenal d’en Castell has a mini land train running around the town and as far as Na Macaret throughout the day and well into the night. There is also a bus service to Mahon and a taxi rank located on the main resort road by the commercial center overlooking the beach.
