Local celebrations

Throughout the summer the local holidays of every municipality are celebrated, in where the horses are the main protagonist, from June until September the horses and their riders, dressed in black and white, and the horses adorned with bows, embroiderings and carnations of colours, they revive every year a ritual that was born in the XIV century.

The calendar of the celebrations:
- June, 23rd and 24th, San Juan in Ciutadella
- July, second fortnight, in Es Mercadal, Fornells and Es Castell.
- August, practically every weekend: Es Migjorn, Llumaçanes, Alaior, Sant Climent, Ferreries (24th and 25th Sant Bartolomeu) and San Luis.
- September, 8th and 9th, "Fiestas de Gracia" in Mahon. San Nicolau and Monte Toro.
